Refresh Software Announces SR2 7.1 Component Content Management Platform for Documents, Web Sites and Structured Publishing

Natick, MA - October 25, 2007. Refresh Software, provider of SR2, a powerful and scalable component-based Content Management and Document Management System, is pleased to announce the release of SR2 7.1. The new version addresses the growing market demand for structured publishing and Web 2.0 solutions that offer systematic content reuse, component content architecture and powerful web publishing capabilities.

SR2 7.1 is based on close collaboration with customers across many industries and domain experts in the areas of DITA, XML, web publishing and component content management. Many companies today, including Bank of America, Fidelity and T-Mobile already benefit from Refresh Software's SR2 platform and the power it brings to publishing processes.

Some of the initiatives that SR2 powers today include:

  • Automating the assembly of complex and extensive technical documentation
  • Publishing web and XML content seamlessly across multiple delivery channels including Web, intranet, internet, RSS, portal, blog and wiki
  • Enabling business contributors across the organization to easily author content using web-based and Microsoft-based authoring interfaces
  • Deploying DITA-based content architecture for easy content reuse and topic-oriented authoring

Refresh offers a component based architecture that allows customer's high value content and document contributors to work most efficiently using the SR2 technology platform. Additionally, the company continues to invest in the most powerful API's and Web services that surround the SR2 platform in an effort to ensure that it can simply drop-in to any technology infrastructure seamlessly in weeks rather than the several months it normally takes with the larger, last generation CMS systems.

Key features of the 7.1 release include:

  • Data Migration: Data migration capability is extended across multiple content domains.
  • Asset Type and Metadata Propagation (Multi-server Configuration): At the source server, an administrator can now select asset types and metadata (users, roles, permissions, workflows, workflow steps and triggers) to automatically update properties within a destination server.
  • Customized Email Notifications: Users are now able to customize the emails sent to other users during workflows.
  • Hot Deploy External Triggers: Added the ability to add or update asset via a hot deployable external trigger.
  • Customized WYSIWYG Buttons: Administrators are now able to enable and disable buttons or functionality available within the editor.
  • Search functionality: comprehensive search functionality including asset search.
  • MySQL Support: MySQL is now supported.

"This release delivers a flexible, component-based architecture that customers can derive immediate value. With SR2 7.1 we've delivered leading edge technology in the areas of rich Web 2.0 use interfaces, powerful component-based architecture and ease of implementation", said Manny Nainu, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Refresh Software. "It's an exciting time for the industry with the emergence of component content management and standards such as DITA and XML transforming traditional web and document publishing systems. We're pleased to be an innovator in this space."
